Behavioral Parent Training (BPT)
Behavioral Parent Training
Behavioral Parent Training (BPT) is a supportive, evidence-based service designed to help parents feel confident, calm, and effective when responding to their child’s behavior. Rather than focusing only on the child, BPT empowers parents with practical tools and strategies they can use every day at home and in the community. Our goal is to reduce stress, improve family relationships, and create positive, lasting behavior change.
Through Behavioral Parent Training, parents learn why behaviors happen and how to respond in ways that actually work. Sessions focus on understanding the function of behavior, increasing positive behaviors such as cooperation and communication, and decreasing challenging behaviors like aggression, tantrums, noncompliance, or emotional outbursts. Strategies are individualized to your child’s needs and your family’s routines, ensuring they are realistic and easy to apply in real-life situations.
Our approach is collaborative and judgment-free. We recognize that parenting is hard, and there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution. Parents are coached step-by-step, with modeling, practice, and feedback, so they feel supported—not overwhelmed. Training often includes techniques such as positive reinforcement, consistent routines, effective instructions, and proactive strategies to prevent problem behaviors before they start.
Behavioral Parent Training is appropriate for families of children with a wide range of needs, including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, developmental delays, or general behavior challenges. By strengthening parents’ skills and confidence, BPT helps create a more predictable, positive home environment and supports long-term success for both children and caregivers.
