Behavioral Parent Training

 Behavioral Parent Training (BPT)

Behavioral Parent Training is a collaborative, evidence-based approach designed to help parents better understand and manage their child’s challenging behaviors. Rather than focusing on “fixing” the child, BPT empowers parents with the same practical tools and behavioral principles used in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Through individualized consultation sessions, parents learn how to prevent problem behaviors before they occur, respond consistently and effectively when they do, and build stronger, more positive relationships with their children.

Many families benefit from behavioral consultation even if their child doesn’t need ongoing ABA therapy. These sessions are ideal for parents who are experiencing issues like tantrums, noncompliance, difficulty following directions, or power struggles at home and want guidance on what strategies actually work. BPT helps parents identify the “why” behind behaviors, establish clear expectations, and use positive reinforcement to promote lasting change.

At its core, Behavioral Parent Training is about giving parents confidence and clarity. Each consultation is personalized to fit the family’s unique needs and schedules, offering hands-on coaching, step-by-step plans, and practical tools to create a calmer, more cooperative home environment. Whether you’re looking for a few guided sessions or more ongoing support, BPT can help you bring structure, consistency, and harmony back to family life.

At BAS, we have had positive success collaborating across diverse parenting situations and among many different childhood diagnoses using proven positive and proactive methods while also avoiding any type of coercion.

If you feel like you could use some extra guidance and support in shaping your child’s behavior, we’d love to collaborate with you. Reach out to us to talk more about your goals and the options available to help your family thrive.
